YIKES! This magnificent piece jumped right off the monitor at me. The "bleeding Dodger Blue" comment hits home like a ton of bricks. Now I am even more anxious for this coming Major League Baseball season to start as it makes me yearn to hear Vin Scully's magical voice welcoming us all to another Dodger Baseball game. If I were to ever have an old baseball, looking as you've just depicted, It would sit on its pedistal, prominently on my favorite bookshelf.
